Indian cinema is currently undergoing a significant transition where multiple big scale production films are coming up at an unprecedented pace. Virtually every industry is producing big scale films.
On that note, we have the case of Raja Shivaji featuring Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh in the role. This film is going to release in theatres on May 1.
As the title clearly suggests, this film is a representation of the life story of legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji, who is a cult phenomenon in the Marathi circuit. This film will come with its natural set of audience.
However, the problem has been with the fact that the promotional material and the visual footage that has been released till now ended up getting Riteish Deshmukh trolled badly.
Many comments on social media have been saying that does not have the aura to play Chhatrapati Shivaji, nor does he have the physical attributes for it. The early reaction for his portray of Shivaji has been negative.
While Ritesh might lack in physical attributes, he’s a very good actor at the heart of it. He might get the facial nuances on point for this film. And if the content has its heart in the right place, there’s a good scope.
But considering the fact that the hero of this film is getting trolled, even before the release, it must be a really tough proposition to come back from here. We have to pay weight and see if the film would undo the early negativity and have a good run from tomorrow.
