Ranbir Kapoor is facing a tight release calendar as two of his biggest films move closer to completion. After the success of Animal in 2023, the actor now has four major titles lined up. These include Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana and Ramayana 2, and the unofficial sequel Animal Park.
With such a packed schedule, Ranbir must decide which film can release earlier to avoid a clash. Industry insiders say he has asked Sanjay Bhansali and his team to complete Love and War by March 2026. He reportedly wants the film released by June 2026 to keep a four month gap before Ramayana.
Reports suggest that Ramayana’s release date cannot be changed. This has led Ranbir to request that Love and War release earlier than its initial August 2026 plan. Sanjay Bhansali, however, prefers an Independence Day release. The holiday has always been a strong weekend for his large scale productions.
Ranbir feels the gap between the two films is too small. Producer Namit Malhotra also appears to be pushing for a June release. Both filmmakers want to avoid one film reducing interest in the other. Ramayana and Ramayana 2 are already set for Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027.
Sources say a proper gap is needed for marketing and audience engagement. Both films require heavy promotion and strong visibility. Trade analysts warn that releasing them too close could affect the box office performance of either film.
Sanjay Bhansali is expected to take the final decision soon. He will need to choose between releasing his film earlier or holding on to the August window. Fans are eager to see how the situation unfolds.
If Love and War is moved to June, viewers will get to watch the Ranbir, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal trio sooner than expected. The industry also waits to see whether the film’s popularity will still affect Ramayana even with the adjusted release date.
