Sadhguru to Save Ranbir’s Ramayana? PR Stunt?

Ever since Ramayana was announced, a section of people online has argued that Ranbir Kapoor is not suitable for the role of Lord Rama due to his past lifestyle choices, including eating meat and consuming alcohol. Many feel the makers should have cast someone else, while Ranbir’s PR team has been trying to highlight that he has changed his habits in preparation for the role.

Recently, producer Namit Malhotra was seen in a conversation with Sadhguru, discussing Ranbir’s casting and addressing public criticism. Clips from their interaction went viral, leading to debate over whether it was a genuine spiritual conversation or a PR attempt.

During the conversation, Namit mentioned how people are recalling incidents from decades ago to question Ranbir’s suitability. Responding to this, Sadhguru said such judgments are unfair. He explained that an actor’s job is to portray different characters, whether Lord Rama or even Ravan in another role, and audiences should understand the professional aspect of acting.

Sadhguru also spoke about how audiences today expect larger than life heroes, almost like superheroes, due to big scale filmmaking. He advised that while action and grandeur are important, filmmakers should not forget to showcase Lord Rama’s values such as balance, inclusiveness, and calm strength.

According to him, these qualities appeal to people across religions and countries, and a genuinely balanced portrayal would resonate universally. His comments received support from many viewers, while others questioned why spiritual figures are being involved in film promotions.

Some believe the interaction is part of a broader strategy to address criticism and tap into Sadhguru’s wide reach. Others feel trolling will continue regardless of who supports the film. While Sadhguru defended Ranbir as an actor, the conversation raised curiosity about the film’s marketing approach.

Whether this exchange influences public opinion or not remains to be seen. For now, all eyes are on how Ramayana shapes up and whether the final product justifies the makers’ confidence and efforts.
