Vishwambhara Wants Sankranti, Kaaka Has a Problem?

Chiranjeevi could be heading for a very unusual Sankranti season. If the latest industry buzz turns out to be true, the Megastar may have two films competing in the same festival window.

Kaaka already has an official January 13, 2027 release date. Now, Vishwambhara is reportedly looking at January 9 as its target date. That would put two Chiranjeevi starrers just four days apart. Kaaka’s January 13 date has been announced by the makers, while the January 9 date for Vishwambhara is still only being discussed.

The bigger reason behind this sudden push is the uncertainty around the Sankranti lineup. If Kaaka moves away from the festival race, Vishwambhara could get a clear opening to occupy the early Sankranti slot.

Vishwambhara has already been waiting for its release date for a long time. The VFX work and OTT deal were among the reasons behind the delay, but the digital deal is now said to be closed. If the Sankranti plan gets locked, the long-delayed film could finally get the festival slot the makers have been looking for.

That immediately puts Kaaka in a tricky position. Keeping both films in the same Sankranti season would mean Chiranjeevi competing with himself, apart from the other major releases already lined up.

So, if Vishwambhara locks a January release, will Kaaka stay with its announced Sankranti date, or will Chiranjeevi’s Bobby Kolli film move to summer 2027?
