Salman’s Maatrubhumi Finally Escapes Limbo

Salman Khan’s long-delayed war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace is finally showing signs of moving towards theatres, but there is a major twist. The film has reportedly received a government No Objection Certificate after undergoing substantial changes to its original version.

The film, earlier announced as Battle of Galwan, has been in limbo for months because of concerns surrounding its treatment of the India-China conflict. The latest reports suggest that the makers have now submitted a heavily revised version, which has reportedly satisfied the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

The biggest change appears to be in the film’s treatment of India-China relations. The revised version is said to present the relationship in a more positive light, indicating that the original content underwent significant alterations before the clearance came through.

However, this is not the final clearance yet. The film still has to go through the Central Board of Film Certification, after which the theatrical release can be officially confirmed.

Salman Khan is reportedly looking at November 13 for the release, hoping to use the post-Diwali period. But that date will depend on the CBFC process being completed in time.

After spending months stuck over its sensitive subject, Maatrubhumi is finally moving again. The bigger curiosity now is how much of the original Battle of Galwan remains in the version that eventually reaches theatres.
