According to a source cited by Bollywood Hungama, China may be removed entirely from the film. It is also claimed that the movie was partially reshot, introducing fictional elements after suggestions from the Ministry of Defence.

Director Apoorva Lakhia reportedly reworked around 40 percent of the sequences. These changes included additional backstory and romantic portions. However, the Ministry is still said to be unsatisfied, with concerns about any direct reference to China.

The release, which was initially planned for next month, is now uncertain. Further reshoots may be required, which could also delay Salman Khan’s next project with Vamshi Paidipally, creating scheduling challenges for the actor.

The situation has sparked strong reactions online. Some fans criticised the Ministry for its intervention, while others blamed the makers for not carefully handling the film’s sensitive theme from the beginning.

A debate has also emerged comparing other films. Some pointed out that Aditya Dhar’s work has mentioned figures like Dawood Ibrahim, questioning why Maatrubhumi cannot refer to China. They argued that war dramas need strong and realistic storytelling.

The rising uncertainty has also raised concerns about the film’s budget. Additional reshoots could significantly increase costs, making recovery difficult. Changes in promotional planning may also be required due to the shifting narrative.

Some suggest that the issue could be resolved through edits such as dubbing, muting, or replacing the word China with a neutral term. However, no official confirmation has been made about such a solution.
