Salman Khan’s much-awaited Sikandar is finally releasing on Sunday, March 30. Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the action drama marks Salman’s collaboration with producer Sajid Nadiadwala after around ten years.
With a few days left for release, Murugadoss has now opened up on how Sikandar happened with Salman Khan. The popular director said in an interview Salman originally intended to go for a remake of a Korean film. It is worth noting that there were rumors of Sikandar being a remake of Sarkar.
However, Murugadoss rejected the idea and this led to Sikandar as he told Salman that in case they collaborate, the film has to be something that is written by Murugadoss.
Notably, Murugadoss had met Salman Khan many years ago while the former was busy with Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty.
Murugadoss said that their first meeting happened at Madh Island where he went to say hello to Salman Khan and it is the same place where they decided to collaborate in the future.
The basic idea of Sikandar was created by Murugadoss when everything came to a halt during the COVID-19 pandemic. He eventually spoke to the producer, who approved the idea, which was followed by the casting of Salman Khan.
Sikandar is arriving on Sunday, which is expected to pull a big crowd to all the theatres across India. However, the overall response and box office collections will depend on how the film will be received by the audience on the first day.
Sikandar must run housefull throughout the week, specifically to mark a big comeback for Salman Khan. The teaser has hinted that it will appeal to the mass audience and only time will tell if Sikandar can emerge as the biggest blockbuster of this year.
