Stree 2, featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has taken Bollywood by storm, with unprecedented box-office success.
The sequel grossed 400 crores in its first two weekends and is on track to surpass Jawan’s lifetime collections. As of now, Stree 2 has earned 552 crores and is expected to exceed 565 crores by the end of the weekend.
The film has already surpassed 500 crores globally, outperforming major hits like KGF Chapter 2, Animal, and Baahubali 2. The success has been boosted by many holidays including the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday season.
Stree 2 is not slowing down and might even surpass the 600 crore mark.
Fans of various stars are in disbelief, especially those of Ranbir Kapoor, who thought Animal’s record would remain unbroken among the younger generation of stars.
Yet, a film with a relatively small cast has surpassed Animal, directed by brand director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The fact that a female-led film has outperformed Animal so effortlessly has led some to claim that the reported collections are fake or inflated.
If Stree 2 reaches the milestone of 600 crores, it will become the first Hindi film to achieve such a feat. This is undoubtedly a remarkable achievement for a film with a modest star cast.
However, Jawan’s all-India figure of 645 crores net would remain unbeaten and it would remain the biggest Bollywood film ever in India.
