Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 starring Rajkummar Rao is setting the box office on fire, both domestically and internationally. The film has managed to rake in a staggering $5.3 million (45 crores approx) overseas in just four days, with a massive surge in collections over the weekend.
Despite a slow start, with a modest $875k on its first day (Thursday), the film picked up pace on Friday and saw a tremendous boost by Saturday, especially in the Gulf market, where the collections tripled.
The word of mouth around the film has been overwhelmingly positive, helping it gain momentum across various markets.
In India, Stree 2 has collected approximately 235 crores (195 crores net), and when combined with overseas earnings of 45 crores, the worldwide total stands at around 280 crores.
With this trend, the film is on track to become the highest-grossing Hindi film overseas this year, surpassing earlier releases.
Currently, Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) holds the top spot for the year with over 400 crores in worldwide collections, but Stree 2 is likely to beat this number by the end of the first week.
Moreover, Stree 2 is also gunning for SRK’s Dunki, which stands at 450 crores in worldwide gross. If the current pace continues, Stree 2 might surpass these figures by the end of its second week.
