Tharun Bhaskar's Comedy Under Scrutiny
Telugu cinema has been producing a fresh range of directors in the recent past and one of the primary additions to the list is Tharun Bhascker. This talented film maker had debuted with Pelli Choopulu and followed it with Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi.
Now he is back in the attempt with the sequel for ENE. This sequel is preparing for its release soon and the trailer for the same was dropped yesterday.
This is now naturally opening the debate on the kind of comedy approach that Tarun had taken for this film, which is expected to bring a ray of freshness to the Telugu audience.
One of the primary factors that keeps Tarun’s style of filmmaking, apart from the rest is the fresh writing. There was never the need for inherent punchlines and comedy generation through one liners in his films till now.
But in the trailer that was released yesterday, there were a couple of occasions where the dialogues were particularly staged in such a way that they land in a commercial tone.
We already have a bunch of Telugu directors who operate in this commercial comedy space. The point of difference with Tarun was that he was very peculiar with his comedy writing till now which made him what he is. If he changes this style and gets to commercial comedy, it would be a different case altogether.
But at the same time, we can’t be jumping to conclusions just by watching the trailer, and we have to wait for the full theatrical experience to see if Tharun is sticking to his natural comedy or whether he has commercialised it.
