Supreme Court Steps In, Director Drops Controversial Title

The Supreme Court has disposed of a petition challenging the title of an upcoming film earlier named Ghooskhor Pandit. The film faced objections over allegations of hurting community sentiments, an issue later acknowledged by the filmmakers themselves.

A bench led by Justices B.V. Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan accepted an affidavit from filmmaker Neeraj Pandey. The affidavit confirmed that the controversial title has been withdrawn without any condition and will not be used further.

The court noted that the film is currently in its editing phase. It will be carefully reviewed to ensure that no content hurts the sentiments of any individual, religion, or community. This assurance played a key role in the court’s decision.

The filmmakers stated that a new title would be selected with caution. It will be chosen to avoid insulting any religion or community. The intent is to ensure the film does not demean or target any group in any manner.

Since the primary concern raised in the petition was addressed, the court found no reason to continue the case. It was also implied that the new title should not invite objections or lead to fresh controversy.

Senior counsel informed the court that the filmmakers never contested the issue. They agreed to change the title to prevent unnecessary disputes. With the main cause resolved, the Supreme Court formally disposed of the matter.
