Torrent Website Owner Arrested in Leak Case

The film Udta Punjab has had its fair share of controversies. Even after its victory in the confrontation with the CBFC, the film had to face piracy troubles when a copy of the film was leaked online before its release date.

The fingers were initially pointed towards the CBFC as the film was assumed to be the same copy provided to CBFC for censoring. However, as the events have unfolded and the Mumbai police have made the first arrest in this investigation, it appears that there is no CBFC connection. The person arrested is Deepak Kumar who was picked from Delhi on Wednesday. Deepak is the owner of an illegal torrent site and he was the one to provide the first download link of the film on the site allmovies.com.

Meanwhile the download links for the film has been removed from websites following copyright complaints.
