Trailer Talk: India’s First Mainstream Chick Flick

Despite the maker’s suggestion that it is not a chick flick, one look at the trailer of Veere Di Wedding and we know for sure what it is. Also, there have been few indie attempts of similar types, but the movie is a first as far as mainstream Bollywood is concerned.

A look at the trailer of Veere Di Wedding, and it is sure to leave an impact. Either one likes it or not; there is going to be no middle ground. We loved parts of it, where the visuals look relaxed, and there were hints of chemistry among the ladies. Otherwise, the rest gave a feeling that the cast was trying way too hard to be cool. Also, there is no problem with colourful language, but the intention shouldn’t be solely on its usage alone and then showcasing it for promotion making ‘bold’ and ‘coming of age’ claims of women centred narratives.

Check out the trailer below. The film stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, and Shikha Talsania in the leading roles playing the female buddies. The Ekta Kapoor produced film will hit screens worldwide on June 1st.
