30 Cr Scam Allegation: Film Director Duped Doctor?

Veteran filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has landed in controversy after being accused of duping a Udaipur-based doctor of Rs 30 crore.

According to an FIR registered at Bhupalpura police station, the director, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, daughter Krishna Bhatt, and several others allegedly promised the complainant, Dr Ajay Murdia, returns of Rs 200 crore on film investments.

Police said the doctor had been introduced to Vikram Bhatt through an acquaintance with supposed Bollywood connections, and later agreed to finance four films under a contract with the filmmaker’s company.

Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal confirmed that while some projects were made, they weren’t fully credited to Murdia’s production house, and a high-budget film never began production.

The complaint claims losses arose after Bhatt’s side failed to meet agreed terms.

Vikram Bhatt has denied the allegations, calling the matter misleading and insisting that documents cited in the FIR are “forged.”

The director told ANI that the complainants were themselves involved in film production ventures and accused them of stopping one project midway, citing their company’s IPO restrictions. He also maintained that payment delays for crew members came from the complainant’s end, not his.

Best known for films such as Raaz, 1920, Ghulam, and Shaapit, Bhatt’s latest film Tumko Meri Kasam released in March 2025 under Dr Murdia’s Indira Entertainment banner.

The current case is under investigation, and no formal charge sheet has been filed yet.
