Two Star Kids Flop, Two More Coming: Promising?

Azaad was the first film of the year to launch two new faces, Ajay Devgn’s nephew Aaman Devgan and Raveena Tandon’s daughter Rasha Thadani.

Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, this historical drama failed at the box office and collected only about Rs 10 crores in its global run. Despite the presence of Ajay Devgn, the film clearly wasn’t a breakthrough for either of the newcomers.

Bollywood is in dire need of new faces that can relate to the younger audience. It lacks younger stars with a strong screen presence that can pull the audience to the theatres. Along with younger faces, it also lacks younger stories.

Amidst the failure of Azaad, Bollywood is introducing two other new faces- Amir Khan’s son Junaid Khan and Janhvi Kapoor’s sister Khushi Kapoor.

Their film Loveyapa is set to release on February 7, 2025, and many are worried that this film’s fate might be similar to Azaad’s.

Unlike the premise of Azaad, Loveyapa which is based on the 2022 Tamil film, Love Today has a much younger storyline which is more relatable to today’s audience.

Audiences want films with theatrical values, which compel them to go to the halls. If not, then they would rather wait and watch it on OTT.

Amidst this, can Loveyapa, a rom-com, do well in the theatres as well as successfully launch the two upcoming faces?

The promo and trailer of the film don’t look positive, their performance being a little cringe at times. If the duo surprises the audience with their performance, we could be looking at the potential new stars of the industry who can carry on their legacy successfully.

In a time when films are struggling to earn even two-digit figures, if Loveyapa could manage to touch Rs 50 crores of Box Office collection, we can consider it to be a successful attempt.

Will we find the new faces of Bollywood? We can only wait for the film’s release and see how it unfolds.
