Former President Joins The Cast Of Animated Comedy

Former French President François Hollande has embraced a new role, lending his distinctive voice to the upcoming animated feature, “Silex & the City – The Movie.” The film serves as a spinoff from the popular short-format animated series, adopting a Simpsons-style approach to portray a Stone Age family grappling with remarkably modern-day issues.

Joining Hollande in the voice cast are renowned French talents, including Bruno Solo, Julie Gayet, Stéphane Bern, Léa Drucker, Frédéric Beigbeder, Guillaume Gallienne, Léa Salamé, and Amélie Nothomb.

The narrative follows the Dotcoms, a Stone Age family consisting of Father Blog (Franck Ekinci), mother Spam (Noémie De Lattre), and their rebellious children Url (Fabien Limousin) and Web (Camille Serceau). The Dotcoms embark on a time-travel adventure into the future, exploring a unique blend of humor and social commentary.

Based on the comic by French cartoonist Jul, the short-form series has been a primetime success, amassing over 180 three-minute episodes on the French-German network Arte.

Jul takes on the role of both writer and co-director alongside Jean-Paul Guigue for the feature film, which will seamlessly integrate 2D animation with live-action sequences.

Production is in the capable hands of Franck Ekinci and Marc Jousset’s company, Je Suis Bien Content, known for animated hits like “Persepolis,” “April and the Extraordinary World,” and “Mars Express.”

Collaborating with Arte Cinéma and Belgium’s Leftfield, in association with BE-TV in Belgium, SG Images, CNC, and Wallimages, the film is expected to deliver a captivating cinematic experience. Animation will be handled by Je Suis Bien Content’s Paris studio and Wahoo! in Liège, with live-action segments shot in the Brussels region later this year.

Anticipation builds as the film is slated for release by Haut & Court, the company behind the acclaimed crime thriller “The Night of the 12th,” a big winner at the recent Cesar awards. International sales for “Silex & the City – The Movie” will be managed by Urban, promising a global audience the chance to enjoy the whimsical Stone Age adventures on the big screen.
