Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for the planned “Knuckles” series, which is going to expand on the world of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” flicks. The six-episode series follows Knuckles (Idris Elba) on a dramatic voyage of self-discovery as he trains and teaches his protégé Wade (Adam Pally) the ways of the Echidna warrior.
The initiative, which runs between 2022’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and the forthcoming “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” is presented by Jio Cinema and acts as a bridge to the new film. The series will reunite key creative teams from prior films, including director Jeff Fowler and executive producers Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, John Whittington, Toru Nakahara, and Idris Elba.
John Whittington and Toby Ascher conceived the series for television, and he is now running it. Whittington, who wrote “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” is the series’ head writer and also authored the pilot episode. Brian Schacter and James Madejski contribute to the series as well.
The cast of “Knuckles” includes Stockard Channing, Edi Patterson, Scott Mescudi, Ellie Taylor, Julian Barratt, Rory McCann, Cary Elwes, Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, and Rob Huebel. Special guests Ben Schwartz and Tika Sumpter will reprise their roles as Sonic and Maddie, respectively. Colleen O’Shaughnessy, who plays Tails, will also return as a special guest star.
