‘The Mask’ Actor Found Dead: H’wood Pays Tribute

Peter Greene, the American character actor known for intense villain roles, has been found dead at the age of 60. He was discovered in his New York City apartment on December 12, 2025, after authorities conducted a welfare check at his Lower East Side residence.

Police responded after neighbours reported loud Christmas music playing continuously from Greene’s apartment for over a day. Officers entered the Clinton Street home during mid afternoon and found the actor unresponsive inside the residence.

Greene was found lying face down with visible facial injuries and blood at the scene. Investigators stated there were no signs of forced entry or foul play. The cause of death has not been confirmed and awaits an autopsy by the medical examiner.

He built a formidable career portraying disturbing antagonists in American cinema. Global recognition came in 1994 with his role as Zed in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, followed by his performance as crime boss Dorian Tyrell in The Mask.

Across four decades, Greene earned more than 90 screen credits. His work included The Usual Suspects, Training Day, Rounders and Laws of Gravity. He was reportedly preparing to begin filming an independent project titled Mascots in early 2026.

Manager Gregg Edwards confirmed the death and described Greene as kind and generous off screen. The actor had spoken openly about addiction struggles in the 1990s and had recently undergone surgery for a benign lung tumour.
