A Simple Target- Will Ruler Achieve It?

A film starring Nandamuri Balakrishna is releasing this week, and yet there is minimal talk about its box office prospects among the trade and the fans alike. It has got more to do with the combination and the trailer.

But, can a Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer be totally written off? In the past, under a similar circumstance, and incidentally, in the same combination (with director KS Ravikumar), a Balakrishna starrer managed to surprise the trade with its performance. The movie was Jai Simha.

Can the Ruler repeat the same feat? The chances for that happening look bleak as there are multiple choices and the season is not the same. Still, Ruler is getting a decent to big release varying from the centre to centre, the mass regions it is getting a better deal. There is no doubt a slight glimmer of hope.

The target to reach breakeven is also low. Ruler needs to collect around 25 Cr worldwide to get a successful status. The business too is heavily lopsided towards the Telugu states and India. So, there shouldn’t be a worry about the US performance as well.

Can the Nandamuri Balakrishna spring a surprise is a question on everyone’s mind, including the fans? The answer to that will be known on December 20th when the mass entertainer hits cinemas all over the world.
