For the last few weeks, the Tollywood box office has been going through a lean run with not a single Tollywood film being able to pull the audience to theaters in big numbers.
Likewise, last weekend’s new releases, Aa Okkati Adakku and Prasanna Vadanam were swiped away at the box office with the least interest shown by the Telugu audience.
Allari Naresh’s Aa Okkati Adakku and Suhas’s Prasanna Vadanam didn’t have much buzz going into the release for them to be able to pull the audience on day 1. But with the word of mouth also being poor, these films couldn’t go anywhere at the box office on the second day, and overall, through the course of the weekend.
The dry run is continuing for Tollywood for now and this is being aggravated by the intense heatwaves in the Telugu states and also the gripping election fever.
The next noteworthy release is Vishwak Sen’s Gangs Of Godavari which is hitting the marquee on the 17th of this month and it is the first film to release after the election season. Can it do the trick for Tollywood? We shall see.
