Aamir Khan beats Rajinikanth in Chennai

This is something one might not have expected in the wildest dreams before the release of the respective films. An Aamir Khan film overtaking a Rajinikanth film at box office in Chennai. But that is exactly what has happened.

Aamir Khan starrer PK which released a week after Superstar starrer Lingaa has collected more than the latter in the Christmas weekend at the box office counters in Chennai city. Lingaa was relegated to second position while new Tamil releases followed them.

PK had to suffer initially due to lack of screens but as days processed it got stronger and stronger and finally reached the number one position. To give an example of how strong the film is running, it is registering houseful collections even on regular weekdays as well when most films find it hard to have bare minimum occupancy.
