The movie theatres in Saudi Theatres are closed for more than 35 years and screening movies were banned in the country. It comes as a historical development that Saudi Arabia is going luft the ban on screening the movies.

This comes as a part of the campaign to transform Saudi Arabia towards modernization. This campaign is taken up by Saudi Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. Besides allowing commercial movies in Saudi theatres, the government is also planning to allow other kinds of entertainment, even.

All these 35 years, Saudi Arabian had watched films through satellite television and video downloads. Some of them used to go to the nearby country to watch films, there. Movies will start screening in Saudi from next year onwards, probably from March. This move is expected to increase the economy and diversification of the country.
