Not often do we see regional stars getting the widest accreditation in the pan Indian circuit. Select few stars like Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Rajinikanth are a few exceptions who have attained pan India stardom.
Coming to the topic now, Kannada star Yash who shot to fame with KGF appears to have committed a huge blunder now with his choice of directors.
After career-changing KGF 1 and 2, Yash took his own sweet time to materialize his next film, which turned out to be Toxic under the direction of less-known Geethu Mohandas. This film was an unconventional choice as many expected Yash to work with a director with good market capitalisation.
However, Yash gambled big time by going with Geethu who isn’t necessarily a known face in the pan Indian belt.
In accordance with this miscalculation, the new teaser of the film that was released yesterday has opened to all largely mixed response. The early reactions on Twitter have been painting a bad picture for the makers.
For a film that is coming after KGF, the packaging and hero presentation must be top notch. But in the case of this Toxic, the first impression isn’t as good as expected.
The KGF tone is maintained which id alright. But in terms of commercial presentation, the wow factor is completely absent. It is just a stylized product that is being tipped to fall under “style over substance” category.
The early indicators for Toxic are anything but positive and hence, we have to see how the campaign will be bettered from here. It is certainly going to be an uphill task.
