Akhil’s Film Permanently Shelved?

Akhil Akkineni dedicated over two years to Surender Reddy’s Agent, undergoing a significant physical transformation for his role. However, despite his efforts, the movie turned out to be an unforgettable box-office disaster. The film was thrown out of several theaters within three days of its release.

Sony LIV acquired the OTT rights to Agent, and May 19, 2023, was the original release date. However, the release was delayed multiple times. Anil Sunkara, the film’s producer, clarified that rumors about re-editing were false, stating that the content was ready for the OTT screening. He attributed the delay to reasons known only to the Sony Liv team and emphasized that there were no financial issues between the producers and Sony Liv.

According to the latest reports, the Agent’s OTT release has been permanently shelved. Though there is no official confirmation regarding this, it is also being speculated that even if Agent makes its OTT debut, it is going to take a very long time.

Even the biggest of disasters have an OTT release. It is a rare scenario that a biggie like Agent will never be released on OTT.

From being touted as Akhil’s ticket to superstardom to now never getting a release on OTT, Agent’s epic downfall has been nightmarish. The wounds and trauma caused by this film to Akhil will take a long time to heal. Even fans want to forget that a film titled Agent ever existed.
