Allu Arjun’s upcoming film Raaka, directed by Atlee and mounted on a never-before international scale, is hitting headlines once again. After the recently released motion capture making video further increased interest around the film, the film is now facing new speculations.
Interestingly, the makers are said to be considering a two-part release for Raaka, largely because of its huge budget and the non-theatrical and OTT business involved.
According to the latest buzz, the team is discussing a plan to release the first part in December 2027 and the second part in 2028. An official announcement on the release strategy is expected soon.
However, there is another possibility.
If the makers ultimately decide to release Raaka as a single film, it could arrive only in 2028, given the scale of the project and the production schedule.
The two-part strategy certainly offers advantages. A successful first part can create enormous hype for the second film. Dhurandhar is a recent example of how a breakout first part can turn the sequel into an even bigger event, with audience curiosity shooting up after the success of the first part.
But the strategy also comes with a major risk.
If the first part fails, the second part can face a serious challenge in maintaining the same hype. Indian 2 showed how difficult it can be to revive interest in a sequel when the first film fails to connect with audiences. In such cases, even the second part’s release can become a complicated proposition.
That makes the decision particularly important for Raaka.
If the two-part plan is finalized, the first film will carry the responsibility of creating the foundation for everything that follows.
For now, both release strategies are reportedly being discussed. The makers are expected to reveal whether Raaka will arrive as two films or one massive single-part spectacle soon.
