Allu Arjun’s Take on Suriya’s Telugu Downfall

Indian cinema is no longer bound by linguistic barriers, and post-pandemic, several regional stars have become pan-India sensations.

Among them, Allu Arjun stands out as one of the most strategically successful actors. The Pushpa films turned him into a household name across the country, but his rise wasn’t accidental—it was a carefully planned journey.

Back in 2012, Allu Arjun gave an insightful interview, revealing his long-term vision. Unlike his contemporaries, who had their films dubbed in multiple languages, Arjun deliberately withheld his movies from being dubbed into Tamil.

Despite growing up in Chennai and being fluent in Tamil, he avoided immediate expansion into the market. He credited his father for this strategic move, citing an example from Tamil cinema.

“After Ghajini, Suriya’s older films were aggressively dubbed and released, but many weren’t on par with Ghajini. This damaged his market,” Arjun explained.

Allu Arjun’s approach was simple—make a direct entry into Tamil cinema instead of flooding the market with old, dubbed films.
