The chaos around Telugu film release dates is becoming a headache — not just for producers, but also for fans trying to keep up.
Almost every week brings a delay or a surprise clash. Now, inside buzz hints at a new three-way clash brewing for September 5.
After skipping earlier dates in April and July, Anushka Shetty’s long-delayed gangster drama Ghaati is finally aiming for release.
Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, the film promises a raw, intense role for Anushka. Post-production is in its final stages, with VFX work being fast-tracked.
But Ghaati might not be alone. Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘The Girlfriend’, a romantic thriller directed by Rahul Ravindran, is also rumored to release on the same day.
Though a smaller film, it’s being planned as a pan-India release, banking on Rashmika’s star power. With earlier delays hurting its momentum, September 5 is seen as a make-or-break window for the film.
There’s a third wildcard: Mirai, starring Teja Sajja and produced by People Media Factory, had already announced a September 5 release months ago.
However, with no fresh updates or promotions, there’s talk that Mirai might quietly shift its date — a move Anushka and Rashmika’s respective teams may be counting on.
If all three films do release on the same day, it’ll be a rare genre clash — a gangster saga, a romantic thriller, and a fantasy-action film going head-to-head.
The most attention, however, will likely go to the Anushka vs. Rashmika clash. With their contrasting fan bases and film styles, the clash could actually help all three — offering variety to viewers and giving the box office a much-needed boost.
