Anushka giving original to Malayalis

‘Chandramukhi’, the pyschological thriller of 2005 gave Tamil and Telugu audiences the taste of Rajni’s style besides the stellar performance of Jyothika in the title role. But this movie is a remake of Malayalam award winning film ‘Manichitrathazhu’ and the multiple personality personality character essayed by Shobana won her National Best Actress award.

That means the original Chandramukhi idea belongs to Malayalis. After the success of ‘Manichitrathazhu’, they didn’t try for a sequel. But a sequel of ‘Chandramukhi’ was made in Kannada and the same was remade in Telugu as ‘Nagavalli’ starring Venkatesh and Anushka Shetty in the lead where the dancer in the portrait comes live in the sequel as Nagavalli.
