Back To Back Setbacks For Suniel Narang

Cracking the success formula is a near impossible for any filmmaker. But any production house intends to get as close as they can to winning ways. However, here’s the story of one production house that is finding it hard to acclimatise the same.

Asian Group, led by Suniel Narang, a deep-pocketed distributor, financer, and theater chain operator floated their production house, Asian Cinemas. Their first production venture is Love Story.

Despite the decent talk, Shekar Kammula and Naga Chaitanya’s Love Story didn’t perform at desired level at box office.

The production house then came up with Nagarjuna’s The Ghost which failed to collect even Rs 5 crores share. It is a disaster of epic proportions.

Then came Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan’s Prince which is also turning out to be a dud. The slapstick comedy is struggling big time at the Telugu and Tamil box office. Meaning, Asian Cinemas have delivered 3 consecutive duds.

Asian have also paid hefty advances to top stars. In order to materialize the projects with top stars, Asian Cinemas will have to strengthen their reputation at the earliest. If they continue their flop streak, it will become increasingly difficult for them to lock to stars for their films.
