Bajirao banned in Pakistan

Sanjay leela bhansali’s historical drama Bajirao Mastani is scheduled to release on Friday across worldwide. The film release in Pakistan seems to be uncertain. The Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) in Pakistan has refused to give No Objection Certificate for the film.

The Mobasher Hasan, chairman of CBFC told two reasons for banning of the film. Firstly, the film is not in Hindi which is against the Pakistan government ordinance. Secondly, the film contains anti-islam elements like love between Hindu Maratha leader Peshwa Bajirao I and his second wife, Mastani, a Muslim. The plea by a local distributor to review the decision on banning the film has been accepted and the board already completed the review but the decision is yet to be declared.

Pakistan has three regional Censor Boards and one regional censor boards have cleared the film and distributors in those areas are making arrangements to release the film. However, SRK and Kajol’s Dilwale get the nod from the CBFC to release in Pakistan tomorrow.
