Balakrishna has somehow found himself at the centre of a rather unexpected international cinema moment. A Bhagavanth Kesari scene that was picked up by an Iranian diplomatic account for a political social-media jab has now taken a funny turn.
Earlier, Iran‘s Zimbabwe embassy shared a clip from Bhagavanth Kesari featuring Balakrishna while taking a dig at Donald Trump. The only problem was the film’s identity. The Telugu film was referred to as Bollywood, leading to reactions from Telugu cinema fans.
A day later, the Iranian Embassy in Hyderabad joined the conversation with the same Balakrishna clip. This time, there was no Bollywood tag. Instead, the post came with a clear shoutout: “Telugu movies are GOAT. #Tollywood.”
That sudden switch makes the whole episode far more entertaining. One day, Balakrishna’s mass scene was being used with a Bollywood label, and the next day, another Iranian diplomatic handle was openly celebrating Telugu cinema.
For Balakrishna, this is certainly an unusual route to international attention. A scene created for a Telugu mass audience has travelled into a completely different space and is now being circulated by diplomatic accounts for reasons far removed from the film itself.
Whatever the original intention behind the posts, Tollywood has ended up getting an unexpected global shoutout, with Balakrishna’s mass screen presence becoming the unlikely face of it.
