The film has some scenes featuring birds and animals and hence the movie has to get a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from Animal Welfare Board of India AWBI). ‘Mersal’ team failed to submit the documents to certify that they didn’t torture the birds and animals while filming scenes on them.
So, if the team can’t convince the AWBI after screening the film, they had to remove the portions featuring the animals and birds.
