Sye Raa Begins – Will It Defeat The Cynic?

So, the long wait for the start of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s dream project Sye Raa is finally over. The shooting for the epic venture has begun today in specially erected sets at Hyderabad. There are tremendous expectations on the movie. But has it started on the right note, despite so much of delay? Remember the first motion poster arrived in August for Chiranjeevi’s birthday.

The cynic has few issues with the movie. First, it is the cinematographer. Yes, Rathnavelu is an excellent choice, but he has been roped in at the last minute. Would he be able to deliver something special or will he be another commercial glorification add-on like Khaidi No 150?

The second is the music director. AR Rahman’s opting out has undoubtedly not sent the right signal. Of course, anyone coming-in could deliver extraordinary output, but he would still not be able to bring the brand value that Rahman brings to table.

And lastly, until today, from time to time there have been various rumors on the writing aspect of Sye Raa. Multiple writers have worked on the movie apart from Paruchuri Brothers. Would it be a case of too many cooks spoil the broth?

But, ultimately more than all those things, no one or no film from TFI made on such scale have been successful besides the SS Rajamouli directed ones. Will Sye Raa be able to change that perception? There is also a question of sustaining the interest till the release, whenever it might be?

Leaving aside issues mentioned above, the expectation on the film is to beat whatever is the biggest in openings when it releases. It looks like an surely achievable task. The difficult job would be to overcome the negative factors mentioned above and deliver a classic product that everyone can be proud.
