Telugu Audience Rejects War 2, Picks Coolie in NA

The first weekend clash in North America has its results and it is complete domination by Coolie over NTR and Hrithik’s multistarrer War 2.

Coolie grossed $6.12 million, exactly double of War 2 which managed only $3.09 million. Looking at breakeven, Coolie already recovered about 80% of its target. For War 2, since YRF both produced and distributed the film in North America, there is no official breakeven figure to track.

The biggest shocker for War 2 came from Telugu audiences. Its Telugu version collected only $764K over the first weekend, failing to even touch the $1 million mark, a clear sign of disaster. In contrast, Coolie’s Telugu version raked in $1.71 million, a very respectable number.

Both films opened to mixed talk, but the numbers speak for themselves. Coolie crushed War 2 in North America, leaving no room for doubt about the clear winner of this clash.
