Rajinikanth’s Coolie BO: What’s Break Even Target?

Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie is riding high on hype, both among fans and within trade circles. Despite facing competition from War 2, the film is doing exceptionally well in terms of pre-release business.

Without even including Tamil Nadu and North India, Coolie has already earned over Rs. 165 crores through theatrical rights alone.

The latest update confirms that the Karnataka theatrical rights have been sold for a strong Rs. 23 crores. This means the film needs to gross over Rs. 50 crores in Karnataka to break even.

According to trade sources, this is a bold but confident move by the buyers, thanks to the strong buzz surrounding the film.

On a global level, Coolie’s total theatrical value is approaching Rs. 300 crores. When combined with non-theatrical deals — including OTT, satellite, and audio rights — the total pre-release business is expected to touch nearly Rs. 500 crores.

With this scale of investment, the film will need to collect around Rs. 600 crores worldwide to break even. That’s a massive target, but the powerful combination of Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj has trade experts feeling optimistic.

Whether Coolie reaches those numbers will depend on word of mouth and its performance across various markets. But as it stands now, the film is already a major winner in terms of pre-release business.
