Some Telugu media houses are also reporting about this sudden surge and are predicting another doom for the industry. But then, it is not really the case. The sudden surge of the cases is mainly due to the caseload in the Red states where the vaccination rate is the lowest.
The people in the Red states are always known to be reluctant to take vaccines. They even refused to wear masks during the thick of the pandemic. The delta variant is causing havoc there. The Telugu population in these states is very less and so, this surge is unlikely to impact the US market of Telugu audience.
The Telugu population is currently enjoying the summer. Having got their vaccine jabs, they are planning parties and vacations. The cases may increase a bit due to that as well. But our population is the highest vaccinated group and so, it is unlikely to be a major issue.
They will flock to theaters for sure and all it needs is a good movie to excite them. As things stand today, the cases surge is not a threat to Tollywood plans (at least for now).
