DC Made Waves In Theatres, Now Comes The OTT Test

DC is reportedly heading to OTT much sooner than expected. According to the latest buzz, the film will begin streaming on September 4 on Prime Video and Sun NXT in Tamil and Telugu, while the Hindi version is expected to arrive on October 2.

The film has already received a massive response in theatres. Led by Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi, DC managed to connect strongly with the audience and turned out to be one of the notable theatrical successes of the season.

Now, the film is entering a completely different phase. OTT audiences are much wider, and DC will be reaching viewers who may have skipped the theatrical release. The digital platform could also bring fresh attention to the film, especially among audiences who were waiting for its streaming premiere.

At the same time, it will be interesting to see whether the strong theatrical word of mouth translates into similar excitement on OTT. Films that work in theatres do not always receive the same response after moving to digital platforms.

For now, the reported September 4 release date is yet to receive an official confirmation. But once DC lands on Prime Video and Sun NXT, the real question will be whether its theatrical success can be repeated in the OTT space.
