Consequently, with super positive responses from audiences, DC went on a rampage at the box office, especially in the Telugu states and Kerala. According to reports, until DC, Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, was the highest-grossing Tamil film in Kerala. However, DC has now surpassed Jana Nayagan’s collections and acquired the top position by collecting more than 16.5 crores in the state.

At the same time, Suriya’s Vishwanath and Sons, which was released in theatres on August 14th, collected around 1.45 crores on its Day 3 in Kerala, whereas DC collected more than 1.75 crores on its Day 10 in the state.

In response to these massive collections for DC, many trade experts are suggesting that Lokesh Kanagaraj has already become a brand in South India. They note that, supported by positive word of mouth, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s pull is drawing a huge section of the audience to theatres.

They also note that, after Tamil Nadu, Kerala was considered the fort of Vijay, as the actor has posted record-breaking numbers in the state. However, Lokesh Kanagaraj with DC has surpassed Vijay’s Jana Nayagan effortlessly and is flexing his potential in the state.

Ultimately, with a solid hold even after new releases, DC is nearing the 100 crore mark. Therefore, it remains to be seen how DC will perform at the box office in the coming days and whether it achieves the 100 crore mark, making Lokesh Kanagaraj the second actor after Pradeep Ranganathan to achieve a 100 crore collection with a debut film.
