Dhanush’s most anticipated film Om: Chapter 1, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on November 20th.
With only a few weeks left until the release, director Rajkumar Periyasamy shared some exciting updates about the film in a recent interview and they are now going viral on social media.
Rajkumar Periyasamy stated that just because the title of the film is Chapter 1, people should not expect a Part 2. He claimed that Om is not a serialized story, and the narrative of Part 1 will conclude completely within this chapter itself. He mentioned that Om might have a Chapter 2, but it will be an entirely different story without any direct continuity to Part 1.
Furthermore, he mentioned that he has treated Mammootty‘s character like an American immigrant seen in Martin Scorsese films, and that the character cannot be confined to the typical, narrow image of an underworld don.
Also, he claimed that both Sai Pallavi‘s and Sreeleela’s characters are completely out of their comfort zones, and both of them have played their parts well in the film.
In response to these comments from Rajkumar Periyasamy, many people feel that the director’s idea seems too ambitious. They suggest that if Om concludes without any lead-in to Part 2, he should have just titled the film Om, instead of confusing audiences by naming it Om: Chapter 1.
Also, since most directors have delivered a flop following a hit, some people fear that Om will also end up as a disappointment and a failed venture.
Nevertheless, Om has shaped up to be the most anticipated film in Dhanush‘s career and has a strong chance to emerge as his highest-grossing film. It remains to be seen whether Om will satisfy audience expectations and emerge as a blockbuster success upon its release on November 20th.
