Director Takes Advance From Two Producers For Same Story

The discussion now is about Karuna Kumar, who helmed two theatrical films – Palasa 1978, and Sridevi Soda Center. Both these films are raw and rustic. Incidentally, he has now taken advances from two producers using the same story.

Going into the story, Karuna Kumar narrated a story to Vishwak Sen and got his approval. Sithara Entertainments, run by Naga Vamsi looked set to produce the project and he even paid advance to the director. But just as the stage was being prepared for the announcement of the project, there’s a twist in the tale.

The buzz in Film Nagar is that Karuna Kumar had already narrated the exact same script to another producer – Dheeraj Mogilineni, who recently released Urvasivo Rakshasivo. The producer had paid Karuna a token advance.

Dheeraj is looking to produce a film on his own now. His recent film Urvashivo Raakshashivo was in collab with GA 2 Pictures. He intends to produce a film on his own soon in search of more recognition and desire to operate on his own. He liked Karuna Kumar’s story and even paid him a token advance, hoping to take it onto the floors soon.

But Karuna had incidentally pitches the same script to Sithara and Vishwak. How will this tale of director Karuna taking advances from two producers for the same script pan out? We have to wait and see.
