Dorasani A Washout – Oh Baby Leads New Releases

The much-anticipated debut of Anand Deverakonda and Shivathmika Rajasekhar, Dorasani, has turned out to be a damp squib at the box office. Its opening was expected, but the lack of follow-through suggests a lack of interest among the audience.

The collections of Dorasani have been abysmal from the start. At the smaller centres, the situation is far worse. It is the same across the Telugu states as well as the US. People haven’t turned up for the ‘realistic’ love story.

Besides, Dorasani, there were two other releases, Ninu Veedani Needanu Nene and Rajdoot. The former starring Sundeep Kishan was the best, by far, among the new releases. It opened six times better than the previous flicks of the actor and yet was a below-par opener. One can only imagine how bad the last few flicks of Sundeep Kishan fared.

For the second weekend in a row, Samantha starrer Oh Baby is leading the box office charge. It slowed down on second Friday, but picked up big on Saturday and continuing the momentum on Sunday, as well. It is a big win for Samantha as a star.
