Dulquer Takes Blame for I’m Game Flop
Dulquer Salmaan has been dealing with a tough phase after the success of Lucky Baskhar. His next two films, Kaantha and I’m Game, did not work at the box office as per expectations, and while he has maintained silence for some time, he has finally responded to the ongoing situation.
Sharing a lengthy statement on X on October 7, 2026, he wrote that he has seen the response coming for his work, adding that people are not wrong about the analysis they have made.
However, Dulquer also stated that everything can be done right only on a few occasions, and sometimes things take a different turn due to certain factors and circumstances. He wrote that while it is easy to analyse certain things, it takes hundreds of people to make a film, which is a tough thing to do.
Dulquer clarified that no actor or production house intentionally makes mistakes or a bad film, since everything never goes the way someone has intended. He ended by saying that he will take a stand for his team, and in case people want to blame someone, it should be him.
A majority believed that the statement was aimed at the issues that emerged during the release of the film, I’m Game, and the aftermath of the same. Notably, the movie emerged as a flop at the box office, creating a debate about whether Dulquer was going wrong with his choices after Lucky Baskhar.
Netizens reacted to the statement by praising Dulquer for supporting the team efforts made to make a film, with a lot of people claiming that other big superstars usually avoid doing the same.
On the other hand, a handful of people even criticized the actor, saying that instead of doing such things, he should now focus on bringing better films. A few pointed out that Dulquer is known to everyone for choosing sensible scripts, and he should continue the habit instead of making mistakes and clarifying the situations that led to the misfire.
As of now, Dulquer has two more Telugu films on the way, starting with Aakasamlo Oka Tara in November 2026, followed by DQ41. After the failure of Kaantha and I’m Game, fans are eagerly waiting to see if Dulquer will make a comeback as expected or if the wait will be a little longer.
I read through it. I’m not saying you were wrong in your analysis. You were mostly right. And trust me we are aware of all of it. But there are just times when from our end we can do everything right. But outside factors or other circumstances can turn those upside down. It’s easy to analyse an end product or result. But it takes 2-300 people to make a film. It’s never easy. Never simple. And never something you can apply formulae or academics to. No production house or actor in world cinema intends to make mistakes or a bad film. In life has everything gone the way you intended ? So imagine an entity that operates with an internal team and multiple external teams. I’ll always stand by my team and if you want to blame someone you can blame me.
