First Step In Ticket Rates Problem Resolution In AP?

Andhra Pradesh Government has released a G.O. setting up an online booking portal for cinema tickets for all single screen theaters and Multiplexes in the state. The portal will be managed by AP State Film, Television and Theater Development corporation.

This portal is aimed at plugging the tax evasion particularly in the B and C centers. The collections of these centers are not reported and so, they evade tax by under-reporting the numbers and occupancy. So, this portal is brought to bring transparency in the movie business.

This portal may be the first issue in resolving the stalemate about ticket rates. Meanwhile, there is no clarity about the meeting of the industry biggies and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. It is getting postponed repeatedly due to the reasons best known to the CM himself.

Big films are waiting for a resolution about the untenable ticket rates so that they can release at least for Dussehra.
