Gangireddy arrest to change the face of state politics?

Notorious Red Sanders smuggler Gangireddy is now in police custody. His arrest has the potential of changing the face of AP politics. It is an open fact that Gangireddy is very close to YSR family. He is the one who funded the election expenses of many YSRCP candidates in the last election including Roja and Chevireddy. Going by the body language of Gangireddy in the Sunday’s Press meet, he is visibly shaken.

Gangireddy is accused in 21 Criminal cases including aiding the murder attempt on CM Chandrababu Naidu. If in the case, he turns approver, it will be very difficult for the opposition leader and the party. There are allegations in Rayalaseema that several of the party leaders are involved in Red Sanders smuggling. The fear is already visible on YSR Congress as the party’s mouth piece, Sakshi tried to avoid the news as much as possible with nominal space.

Gangireddy was once the Gun man of YSR’s father, Raja Reddy. With this acquaintance, YSR Government got a GO in 2004 which released Gangireddy from jail on humanitarian grounds even though he is not eligible. Gangireddy was arrested in 1992 in connection of an industrialist’s murder and he was sentenced to Life imprisonment in 1998. Gangireddy after his release expanded his smuggling empire to international level.
