Megastar Chiranjeevi’s GodFather’s box office run is a strange one. Despite the decent-to-hit talk, the film is going nowhere at the box office.

Coming to the topic, GodFather has been comprehensively beaten by a small Kannada film. Wonder what’s the story behind it?

GodFather collected around Rs 60 lakhs on its opening day in the Hindi market. This is a shockingly low number for a film featuring super star Salman Khan and Chiranjeevi. Despite being a commercial entertainer, GodFather failed to make it big at the Hindi box office right from day 1.

Incidentally, Kantara, a small Kannada film featuring relatively unknown faces for Hindu audiences, has opened on a bigger note than GodFather in the Hindi belt. The said film is Kantara.

Kanatara’s opening day tally at the Hindi box office is expected to be around Rs 1 crore. This is still a low number in itself for a film that was extensively promoted and released in 1200 screens, but it is still better than what GodFather could do. It has comprehensively beaten GodFather.
