Gopala Gopala – the struggles to overcome

The first big Telugu film of 2015 will release within few hours. All the bookings are going on at a very rapid pace and trade is already getting excited over the first day figures. So let’s look at some recent past Sankranthi releases and what Gopala Gopala has in offer for us and what could be expected from it at box office.

Sankranthi has been mostly lucky for hero Venkatesh with many successful films for him in this festive season in the past. Pawan Kalyan on the other hand has only one release prior to this, Balu and it too was released a week before the actual festival. If we look at trend among the film in last decade or so, films either that are family entertainers or mass entertainers have worked at the box office.

Gopala Gopala is a film that stars a family hero and a mass hero as well which is an ideal combination. But the film isn’t an out and out family entertainer nor does it have any mass elements. It’s a unique concept that touches a sensitive topic in an entertaining way. The trick for success here is to make the audience that come with the affiliation to the stars, connect with the content. A lot of this aspect rests on the shoulders of Venkatesh and if he makes that connect presence of Pawan Kalyan should take care of the rest.

Still as Gopala Gopala doesn’t fall into any predictable clichéd genre one is uncertain about its box office prospects at the moment. It also doesn’t help that it’s a remake. Will Gopala Gopala overcome all these struggles and be a winner at box office? Will Gopala Gopala provide the respite to ‘big’ failures from TFI? We have had so many failures in the year gone by, let’s hope Gopala Gopala begins a new trend and people will accept such subject here.
