As of now, only the vehicles brought after the state appointed day are bearing TS state code. Government earlier had issued a GO on reassignment of the registration numbers. However the issue was put on back-burner after it triggered a controversy and the issue finally landing in High Court.
And now the government is looking at simplified process in which all the old registration number of vehicles with AP state code will be replaced with ‘TS’. The existing unique vehicle number will remain unchanged. Transport officials will be giving sufficient motorists in 10 districts to make changes and seek new registration certificates (RCs) for their vehicles from the local RTA. We are yet to know if this process will be free or charged.
