Guru- So Much Effort For No Result?

Victory Venkatesh may be lagging behind among the top senior heroes but it is merely for numbers and not lack of trying. It is amply clear with the way he has transformed for the role of a boxer in his next film Guru. No wonder it has generated good hype immediately.

But is Venkatesh putting such efforts in wrong films? This is a question that rings in minds as soon as one is aware of the subject of the film. Guru is a remake of Hindi-Tamil bilingual film Saala Khadoos. It belongs to sports genre. The original was not path breaking in any way but since was made with sincerity and dedication the efforts showed on the screen to make it an average success, at best and that too only in A, centers.

With Telugu going by some of the casting choices and retention of the same technical team, it looks this might end up being a lip service remake. Add to it the very low success of the genre, this one, despite all the efforts by Venkatesh, might be another film that comes and goes with no real impact.

Can the makers put some effort, like rewriting the script to suit our nativity or extracting fresh music out of the very talented Santosh Narayanan who does his first full-fledged Telugu movie? It’s things like these that can put the film on people’s radar once the film release. Is this too much to ask, though?
