Tollywood has gotten off to a rather timid and slow start this year. After the early rush, due to Sankranti season, the box office has slowed down in recent weeks.
However, what is more concerning is that we do not have too many promising titles in the immediate future either.
The real deal appears to be starting only in May this year, as we have multiple promising films lined up in this month.
The month starts with Nani, arriving at the box office with HIT 3. This film has this sequel advantage, and it also promised to show Nani in his most violent and aggressive avatar till date.
Then we have, Tamil veteran Suriya arriving with Retro. This film promises to be a vintage action drama with top notch technical values, and an interesting pair of Suriya and Pooja Hegde. Director Karthik Subbaraj appears to be cooking, another vintage action themed film this time around.
Incidentally, both Retro and HIT 3 are releasing on May 1. These films will have a direct clash of sorts at the box office.
Towards the end of the month, we have Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom which is releasing on May 30. This film has Vijay in a makeover Avatar and the teaser really promising.
The scale and canvas of the film are expectedly huge and there’s something out of the ordinary that is on offer from Vijay this time. This has to be the most exciting outing from Vijay in recent times.
In accordance, we have not one but three interesting and exciting new outings at the box office this May. This is going to be the real cinema frenzy month for Tollywood audience.
