How Many of the 500C, 1000C Films Are Timeless?

Currently, the major movie industries in India are targeting the expanded Pan-India market. Major production houses are striving to set up combinations and scale projects.

The current perception suggests that if a star director or hero doesn’t produce a pan-India film, they feel pressure as they seem smaller in comparison to their rivals.

Director Sriram Raghavan, known for films like ‘Johnny Gaddaar’ and ‘Andhadhun,’ has a different view on this matter.

Raghavan questions the timelessness of these 500 crore or 1000 crore movies, wondering how many among them can be watched repeatedly. He criticizes the focus on monetary success, stating it’s absurd that viewers are more interested in box office numbers than well-made films.

His comments hold weight; looking at recent 500 crore and 1000 crore movies, many appear half-baked or successful solely due to hype, lacking the essence of being ‘timeless.
